About
Amanda J. Lucas Biography
Amanda Lucas is a Bible studies group leader and church historian from Forest Lake, Minnesota. She was born in Duluth but spent many years of her childhood on the East Coast where her love for the Civil War and history blossomed. After returning to Minnesota and graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College cum laude in 2008, she went on to practice real estate and became involved in her church’s small group/Bible study ministry where she has built several Bible studies from the ground up on a variety of topics.

Amanda is passionate about helping people to deepen their faith by exploring what history can tell them about God's love and how that history can be applied to their faith today. This passion has led her not only to writing but also to produce a series of popular video devotionals aimed at connecting history and faith. These videos, as well as her award-winning photos of Civil War sites, have continued to resonate with viewers both within her church and the wider community. Her photos and videos are displayed on her website at AmandaJLucas.com as well as on Instagram (@ajlucas_writes).

Amanda lives in Minnesota with her husband Nate and dog Arwen. When she is not writing, you can find Amanda watching the Minnesota Twins (her favorite team), playing drums or guitar with the worship band at her home house of worship Forest Hills Church, or reading the latest Civil War memoir from her bookshelf.
